We had a wonderful experience at The Raj Restaurant today. Catherine served us and she was absolutely amazing — very good, humble, and polite. Her warm attitude and attentive service made our meal even more enjoyable. Thank you, Catherine, for making our visit special
A gem of a place right at the V&A Waterfront. On the lines of a fine dine. Delicious Indian food, almost close to authentic. Highly recommend.
this place is halal but somehow serves alcohol. It was a wet windy day. The food is very good. seemly cheaper for the location but for me expensive. Extensive menu. The drinks menu was even larger. the lighting is very dim. The seating was nice and decor was to theme. The waiters were nice but did forget some of the instructions. they weren't too busy. The overall experience was good. If you are very hungry the serving sizes are right. It come on a candle chaffing dish so it stays warm. The curries come with rice but the naan is worth trying. Worth trying to go when I am hungry. The facilities were clean and good working order.
Exceptional Indian food — beyond expectations! The restaurant has a beautiful ambiance and a relaxing atmosphere. Our waiter, Takunda, was a big part of the experience — cheerful, friendly, and incredibly accommodating. He made sure everything was exactly how we wanted. We ordered: • Punjabi Samosa: perfectly balanced filling and full of flavor • Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, and Fish Masala: all were rich, flavorful, and had just the right spicy kick — adjusted perfectly to our requested heat level, which many Indian restaurants tend to overlook • Naan bread: hands down the best we’ve had! Freshly baked and perfectly soft Everything was served hot, flavorful, and exactly how we like it in terms of spice. The service was excellent, and we truly enjoyed every bite. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys bold, spicy Indian flavors done right.
would love to take a moment to sincerely appreciate the incredible service I received from Takudzwa our waiter today. From the very start, he welcomed us with a warm and genuine smile that immediately made us feel comfortable and valued. His energy was uplifting, and his professional appearance, including how fresh and well-groomed he looked, added to the entire dining experience. He was not only quick and attentive but also handled everything with such calmness and grace, even while serving other tables. What stood out the most was how knowledgeable he was about the menu — his recommendations were spot-on, and thanks to him, we enjoyed dishes we might not have thought to try. There was not a single moment where we felt forgotten or unattended. He was always one step ahead, refilling glasses, checking in with perfect timing, and doing it all with a smile that never faded. It’s rare to find someone who makes service feel so effortless and natural. Service like this turns an ordinary meal into a memorable experience. Please recognize him for the outstanding job he’s doing — he truly represents the very best of hospitality.
My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Raj, a new restaurant at the V&A Waterfront, and we were blown away by the experience. On our first visit in late February, we enjoyed the food, service, and view so much that we decided to come back the next evening. The menu offered the usual Indian dishes that we love, but also had some unique options with a local twist, such as tandoori springbok and ostrich. Everything we tried was exceptional, from the food to the drinks. One thing that really stood out to me was the spiciness of my dish (I requested this). As someone who loves spicy food, I often find that restaurants tone down the heat to cater to a more general audience. However, at The Raj, my order arrived just as spicy as I had hoped for. Despite the amazing experience we had, we were surprised to find that the restaurant was not very busy. We suspect that this is due to being a new addition to the V&A Waterfront, but we highly recommend giving it a try. In summary, The Raj offers fantastic food, attentive service, and a stunning view. If you're a fan of Indian cuisine or looking to try something new, this restaurant should definitely be on your list.
It’s an Indian restaurant at the V&A Waterfront with a scenic view of the ocean. The planner palak paneer that we ordered was nice but the Malabar fish curry was a too sweet and creamy and not quite authentic. Overall the food quality and quantity was good and our server, Dell Well, was excellent. Not bad for someone seeking Indian food in Cape Town.
